Leave of Absence, Certificated POLICY NO: 449
The board of trustees shall have power to grant leaves of absence of up to one year in length, with possible renewal, to personnel covered by renewable contract. Such leave may be granted in cases of pregnancy, illness, or injury of the employee or of a member of the employee's immediate family, or for purposes of education or travel of the employee, or for other special reasons which the board may find appropriate. When an employee is granted leave of absence, the district assures that upon return from such leave, the employee shall be guaranteed the same position held prior to the commencement of the leave providing the position has not been eliminated. The employee shall be offered a contract and shall have ten (10) days to accept or reject the offered contract. When such leave of absence is granted:
