Vacations, Non-Certificated POLICY NO: 484

Full-time regular employees who are employed on a full-year (12 month) basis are entitled to one (1) week (5 days) of vacation with pay for the first year of employment.  First-year employee vacation time will be prorated and accumulated on July 1 of the following fiscal year.  After completing the second fiscal year of employment, personnel shall be entitled to two (2) weeks (10 days) of vacation with pay. At the end of ten (10) complete fiscal years of continuous employment with the school district, personnel shall be entitled to three (3) weeks (15 days) of vacation pay annually.

The superintendent of schools, in cooperation with the employee's immediate supervisor, shall establish a vacation schedule for all non-certificated personnel in the district.

Vacation time is not accrued from one year to the next. Except in cases of emergency and upon special approval of the superintendent, employees may not be employed for extra wages with the school district during the employee's vacation time.

Full-time non-certificated personnel who are entitled to vacation time with pay shall be paid for unused vacation time accrued when employment with the school district is terminated provided that they have given notice of intent to terminate service no less than 10 days prior to the last day of work. Failure to take vacation at a mutually convenient time or to give a 10-day notice shall lead to forfeiture of vacation severance pay.
