Safety POLICY NO: 402
- The safety of every employee of School District No. 391 is of vital importance.
Every supervisor and every employee shall accept his/her responsibility for safety and
conduct himself in a manner that will ensure his/her own safety and the safety of those
working around him/her.
- School District No. 391 will rigidly enforce all safety practices and regulations
as established and will enforce Federal, State, County, and Municipal Safety Laws,
Regulations, and Policies.
- The district recognized and feels the need for the development of safe working
conditions and practices and will do everything practical to provide an efficient and
effective accident-free operation.
- A safety training program shall be established for all supervisors and employees. The
Principal/Supervisor will hold quarterly safety meetings to continue the ongoing education
of employees. All employees are required to attend the safety meetings.
- All industrial accidents shall be reported, no matter how slight, to the immediate
supervisor as soon as possible and always on the day of the accident. In addition, the
Supervisor's Accident Report form shall be completed as thoroughly as possible within a
reasonable time following the accident.
- All supervisors will consider it an essential part of their job to:
- prevent accidents,
- detect and correct unsafe practices and conditions,
- train and review with their employees safe work procedures, and
- make sure each employee knows, understands, and follows all safety procedures and rules
related to his/her job.
- All employees are required, as a condition of their employment, to follow all
established safety procedures and the instructions of their supervisors.
- School District No. 391 is responsible for the promotion and coordination of safety
activities throughout the district and in aiding the building or department supervisors in
safety training. This includes accident prevention efforts, supervision of investigation
of accidents, accumulation and distribution of accident records and statistics, and
maintaining contact with safety organizations. The prevention of accidents is a primary
responsibility of the supervisor and the employee on the job.
