Observations and Recommendations

2.10.1    Observation

There is a perception that communication to the buildings by the supervisor is lacking and could be a means to improve efficiency. There appears to be a lack of long-range planning in areas of replacement of equipment, preventative maintenance, and staffing organization.

Recommendations

Initiate a long-term process that addresses areas such as replacement of equipment, and preventive maintenance. Consider a way to increase bidding and purchasing in greater quantities that could require more warehousing capabilities; possibly coordinating with other school districts.

2.10.2    Observation

There is a perception that the food service staff has not been treated equitably in the areas of inservice and training.

Recommendations

As part of a total staff development plan it is recommended that the district review policies and procedures regarding training and fully communicate the policies to employees.
