VISION STATEMENTThe teachers, parents, students, and community of Canyon Elementary School recognize the importance of a well-rounded education within a safe and nurturing environment for each student. Each of these groups, in collaboration with the others, will provide the resources needed for students to develop to their full potential and to become literate, life-long learners who will make positive contributions to our society. MISSION STATEMENTOur mission at Canyon Elementary School, in partnership with our student�s families and the local community, is to provide each individual student with academic, technological and social skills. STATEMENT OF PURPOSEDuring the 2000-2001 school year, a committee met to discuss and formulate a School Improvement Plan. The school improvement plan established a Multi-Age/Multi-Grade Program for the school including Kindergarten. Canyon Elementary School qualified for a grant to help teachers and students improve teaching and learning. The Multi-Age/Multi-Grade Program is a child-centered approach to teaching and learning that helps children progress at their own pace. The program uses an integrated curriculum which is geared to the needs of each child, rather than the curriculum of two different grades. |
